Cal Pep is one of the best known tapas restaurants in Barcelona. Its reputation is very well justified-Everything is fresh and fun, the tapas, the people, the service, the wine etc... You must to go there at least once, otherwise you'll never know what REAL tapas are. Every meal is a delight and every season a new pleasure that follows the market arrivals and seasonal foods. It's restaurant "Cal Pep" next door with notorious fish and seafood dishes is also well worth a visit. Both are crowded so book, book, book before you visit the restaurant or be patient at the bar, you might be waiting for a long time!

Located at the ground floor of the superb designer hotel Omm, restaurant Moo, is a contemporary more purified, modern and very personal fusion mixture of taste. Roger Visuà, recently crowned the Best Sommelier in Europe (wine cellarmaster), suggests for each dish, a suitable accompanying glass of fine wine. Very beautiful cellar. Prices more than reasonable for such a high standard of luxury, great food and lounge atmosphere. As this hotel is very "hype" have an eye out at the foyer cocktail bar, one of the hottest places around for a pre-dinner drink.

Comerç 24 "One of the chicest eateries in town". The "luxury tapas" concept is the same as in the "Santa Maria" across the street. All these new Spanish cuisine places are inspired by godfather Ferran Adria (el Bulli). The interior is a little drab- A beautiful seventies landscape photograph in the middle of sad grey walls and a strange lightning system but the service is excellent. Try Coast sardines with grape and avocado (10€), Tuna pizza sashimi and wasabi vinaigrette sauce (9€), Artichoke hearts truffle and qauil eggs (12€) Murgules with cream (12€) Salmon with vanilla (12€)... Eating here can be fun though- Myself and my partner had the "festival" menu (48€), a bit of everything. Don't miss the kinder surprise egg (6€) and the cappuccino dessert. Make sure you have a reservation and not to sit by the doors on cold days. If you are hungry, beware: the tapas are small but there are lots to choose from.

Escribà "Il Chiringuito di Bogatell" -Situated right on the sea front- this is our favourite Escriba, two others are in town. Imagine-dining on the beach, excellent paellas, rice dishes, perfect tapas, the sound of the sea, salty air and a fabulous selection of wine. When booking (obligatory because the place is notorious ) ask to be seated outside. The staff are multi-lingual and the menu is very international, from tapas, to seafood, steak to risotto, this is really one for the whole family. There's a reason we keep returning again and again!
